About the
artist.
Ananyaa is a Sydney based designer and artist working primarily with textiles. Her patchwork compositions are abstract interpretations of natural elements that make apparent a strong affinity for florals. She employs the slash-and-spread technique of pattern making to create 3-dimensional details that add fullness and tactility to her works. Data visualisation through art centred around systems blindness and its impact on the environment regularly drive Ananyaa’s concepts for sculptural and interactive artworks. Her work is often designed to touch upon serious topics of conversation in a light-hearted and humorous manner, using familiar characters and objects as common anchors for her audience. Relatable references in nostalgic narratives.

DATA VISUALISATION

Contact me to work on public installations and temporary activations that aim to initiate conversation about systems blindness and its impact on the environment, both micro as well as macro. The works will serve as dynamic site responsive exhibits representing data gathered from the community.

TEXTILE COMMISSIONS
Works like Larkspur explore patchwork's capacity to cover 3D objects like spheres and cylinders - an exciting concept from an interiors perspective where art becomes a site specific creation, wrapping around structural elements such as columns.
